Walk for Autism set April 20 at Hudson Fields

Event raises funds, highlights acceptance and inclusion
April 17, 2024

The annual Walk for Autism event, organized by Autism Delaware and presented by Delaware City Refining Company, will take place Saturday, April 20, at Hudson Fields near Milton. The event aims to promote autism acceptance and inclusion. More information is available and registration is still open at p2p.onecause.com/2024walkforautism.

Due to safety and logistical reasons during COVID restrictions, the event was temporarily moved to October, but organizers emphasize the significance of returning it to April. “It makes sense to return our largest community gathering and fundraising event to the month of April, because April is Autism Acceptance and Inclusion Month in Delaware,” said Dan Getman, CFRE, Autism Delaware director of fund development and community engagement. “For the past 17 years, the walk has been a way of showing acceptance and inclusion of individuals on the spectrum while also fundraising for the programs and services that support them and their families.”

Event coordinators aim to raise $110,000 for Autism Delaware programs and services. To achieve this goal, it relies on the generosity of sponsors. As the event’s 2024 presenting sponsor, Delaware City Refining Company is playing a crucial role in defraying the cost of presenting the walk at two sites across the state.

Autism Delaware is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit made up of individuals on the autism spectrum and their family members, the professionals who serve them, and the friends of autistics. For more information, visit autismdelaware.org.
