Walter Charles Ennis Jr., enjoyed the outdoors

June 4, 2018

Walter Charles Ennis Jr., 87, of Seaford passed away peacefully Sunday, June 3, 2018, at ACTS Manor House. He was born in Wilmington Oct. 29, 1930, son of the late Catherine Hession and Walter C. Ennis Sr.

Walt graduated from Salesianum School. He attended Goldey Beacom College where he studied public accounting. Walt retired from DuPont after 31 years. He worked in accounting, specialty manufacturing, and as an export manager for the Elastomer Chemicals Department. Prior to working with DuPont, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served in Japan at a base at the foot of Mt. Fuji.

Upon retirement, Walt held various positions over the years at H&R Block, Longwood Gardens and later at the Delaware State Parks. This gave him an opportunity to deal with people, express his incredible sense of humor, as well as enjoy the outdoors that he loved.

In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly J. Ennis; and his brother, James Ennis.

He is survived by his four children: Walter Ennis III and his wife Honey of Newark, Donna Hadley and her husband Stephen of Hockessin, Scott Ennis and his husband Scott Burdette of Rehoboth Beach, and Robin McKay and her husband Richard of Harbeson; his nine grandchildren: Michael, Anthony, Christopher, Lauren, Meredith, Brian, Scott, Taylor and Garrett; 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, William T. Ennis of Wilmington; and his ex-wife, Lynn Thompson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 8, at 11 a.m., at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff at the ACTS Manor House and Seasons Hospice for the care of our dad.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Walt's name be made to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
