March 7, 2024

Wanda Gayle Handy, 78, of Rehoboth Beach passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024.

She was predeceased by her parents, Doris/Daris and James L. Handy; her sister, Jo Ann Linkous, brothers, James C. Handy, Hiram (Jeff) Handy, Arvel L. Handy and Bobby C. Handy. Wanda is survived by her sisters, Pamela (Katie) Handy, Dinah Handy Hall and Althea (Dodie) Herndon; and brother, Roger L. Handy; along with many nieces and nephews.

Wanda was born in Radford, Va., attended Christiansburg High School, and later became a certified hairstylist and business owner of Wanda’s Auto Detailing located in Salem, Va. She had over 50 years of experience in the automotive industry before retirement.

She loved to fish and cherished her pets. Wanda’s favorite pastime was zipping around her neighborhood with her fur babies, Karo or Clyde, in her customized golf cart, greeting and visiting with their many friends, and fellow fur baby neighbors. She loved music and Mini Coopers, cooking, and construction. When it came to helping out a family member or friend in need, no project was too daunting. Wanda enjoyed painting concrete creations, watching old westerns and golfing.

She was blessed with many longtime friends during her life, including roommate and best friend, Cheryl Marshall. Wanda was deeply loved and comforted during her illness by her sister, Katie and Gwen Osborne. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life held in Rehoboth Beach at a later date. Details will be provided soon.
