Watercolor classes with Gerilyn Gaskill kick off Jan. 2 at RAL

December 22, 2016

Anyone who has wanted to learn how to do watercolor painting should check out Beginning Watercolor workshops with Gerilyn Gaskill at the Rehoboth Art League. The classes are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 2, and Monday, Jan. 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register for one or both classes! Students will watch watercolor demonstrations and then paint along with Gaskill.

She will demonstrate various tips and techniques, including wet-in-wet, dry brush and glazing. Students will learn how to mix colors and apply them on paper. Come take risks, have fun, be intuitive and inventive! Each class is $45 per person.

If daytime classes do not work then come Paint Along with Gaskill Thursday evenings, Jan. 19 and Feb. 16, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., for one or both classes. On Jan. 19 students will watch an acrylic painting demonstration and then paint a blue vase along with Gaskill. At the Feb. 16 class participants will watercolor a local landscape. Each evening class is $35 per person.

"Gerilyn Gaskill is an award winning local artist who has a passion for capturing the beauty of the Delaware coastline and Delmarva landscapes in watercolor, oil and acrylics," says Paula Holloway, education programs director at RAL. "Her interest in art started young in kindergarten and was helped along by her great-grandfather artist August Seiler, who also painted coastal imagery. When she is not painting, she is teaching others to paint."

To register for one of these January workshops, go to www.rehobothartleague.org or call the art league at 302-227-8408 Ext. 112. All classes will be held at the Rehoboth Art League, located at 12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres, Rehoboth Beach.

The Art League is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making art accessible to all. This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com.
