Watercolor classes at Rehoboth Art League start April 10

March 26, 2017

The Rehoboth Art League offers a spring menu of watercolor painting classes.

Local Color classes with watercolorist Gerilyn Gaskill are set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Mondays, April 10 and 17. Students will watch a watercolor demonstration and then paint along with Gaskill. She will demonstrate various tips and techniques, including wet-in-wet, dry brush and glazing. On April 10, students will learn how to paint lighthouses, and on April 17 they will concentrate on a beach umbrella scene. Register for one or both classes. Each class is $35 per person.

Fun with Watercolor with local artist William Dec will be offered from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Tuesdays, April 11 through May 16. Students will concentrate on how to render their subject and create the correct values in their watercolor paintings. They also will learn the secrets of a good composition, which is essential to the success of a painting. Done well, good composition draws the viewer in and then moves the viewer's eye across the whole painting so everything is taken in, finally settling on the main subject of the painting. The cost of this series of classes is $100 for members and $135 for nonmembers.

For more information or to register, go to rehobothartleague.org or cal 302-227-8408, Ext. 112. All classes are held at the Rehoboth Art League, 12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres, near Rehoboth Beach.
