Woman falls from children’s ride at Funland

July 27, 2017

A 49-year-old New York woman fell from a ride at Funland in Rehoboth Beach July 24, leaving her with minor injuries.

Funland spokeswoman Lynne Henschke said the woman fell out of her car on the Cruisers ride. She said she had been riding the ride with her granddaughter, who was unharmed. Riders hold a bar down to stay in their cars, which are painted to look like cars such as PT Cruisers - as the ride goes around in a circle backward and forward.

Henschke said Funland, a fixture on the Rehoboth Boardwark for decades, recently installed help buttons on all the rides to enable operators to contact a manager immediately on incidents like this.

Henschke said the woman was attended to quickly and was awake and conscious the entire time. She said the woman was taken to the hospital by emergency medical technicians and has been released. Henschke said the park has stayed in touch with the woman, who is recovering and doing well. SUBMITTED PHOTO
