Women's Club of Milton tour a success

December 21, 2017

On behalf of the Women's Club of Milton, we would like to thank the town of Milton, our residents, and our out-of-town guests for supporting and attending the Holiday House Tour. We had a beautiful snowfall that only added to the charm of Milton and made a perfect setting for the homes this year.

A huge thank you goes out to the merchants for taking the time out of their busy work day to sell the tour books. This would not have happened without the help from the Merchantile, Salon Milton, the Milton Historical Society and Lewes Gourmet. We are forever grateful.

Without the beautiful homes and the gracious homeowners, we would not have been able to host the tour. We thank Mark Polo and Norman Cohen, Brian King and Richard McFetridge, Eleanor Keisel and Bob Gingrich, MJ and Mike Ostinato, Emily and John Lehne, Cathy Watts, Eileen and Dave Johnson, and Catherine and Walter Gurczenski.

Your homes were beautifully decorated and helped showcase the beauty and serenity of the holiday season.

We also want to thank the Milton Historical Society, the Milton Arts Guild, and Mayor Ted Kanakos and Town Hall, for opening their doors to the public to enjoy the beauty, the art and the history of the town of Milton.

How do you say thank you to a a committee that worked tirelessly to make this event the success that it was? Preparations for the tour were in the planning stages for more than six months. Elaine Carbone worked diligently to find docents to host the tour and provided great instruction to all the docents - thank you, Elaine. Another big thank you goes to all the docents who gave of their time to welcome our visitors.

You made the visitors feel so welcomed. Docents were from the Women’s Club of Milton, the Milton Garden Club and local residents. Thank you to Maureen Blasic and her husband for the beautiful signs. Thank you to Ellen Passman and M.J. Ostinato for being the face of the tour on Delmarva Life. Thank you to Paula Costanzo for taking on tour book sales, distributing the books to the merchants and collecting the revenue.

And, the biggest thank you of all goes to Chairwoman Linda Rivera-King. Without her leadership, we would have been lost. She is a professional in every sense of the word. Linda, we thank you for all the behind-the-scenes work that you did to pull this together. and to make it the highlight of the year for the town of Milton. You made it look easy.

How proud we are of our town and that pride was reflected in the warm and gracious compliments that were given so freely during the tour.

The comments that were shared by the tour goers made our pride swell even more. They told us how friendly, kind, welcoming, pleasant and hospitable we were. And, they loved the treats that were offered by all the homeowners!

Again, we say thank you for making this such a grand success and wish everyone a joyous holiday season!
