WRDE-TV celebrates second-year on-air anniversary

June 26, 2016

WRDE-TV, Delmarva’s local NBC station, is celebrating its second anniversary of being on the air. “There is no doubt that time flies when you’re having fun,” said Bob Backman, WRDE general manager. “I am very humbled by how well we have been received in the community. Viewership continues to grow, and more and more advertisers are partnering with us to help grow their businesses. It all comes down to people. And, we are fortunate to have found a lot of great employees in the past two years that put a lot of effort into what they do. People make it happen.”

The news department at WRDE has recently brought two new employees to the roster. They are Briella Tomasetti and A.J. Clemente. Both are reporters bringing local stories to Delmarva viewers. “We are all about local, local, local. If our local community is successful, so are we. That is why local is always our focus in news, promotions and sales. Brielle and A.J. are the next steps in broadening our local news footprint,” said Backman.

As part of the WRDE two-year anniversary celebration, WRDE announced that one of the biggest local events, the Sea Witch parade in Rehoboth Beach, will once again be broadcast live on WRDE in October. “The Sea Witch Festival is an incredible economic boost to our area every year, and we are very proud to be the official sponsor,” said Backman. “A lot of people put an incredible amount of time and effort in to making it happen every year, and we are supporting it by bringing it live to local television viewers once again this year.” Last year, WRDE was the first station on Delmarva to ever broadcast the parade.

The 2016 Sea Witch parade will take place Saturday, Oct. 29, and WRDE will be on Rehoboth Avenue with their broadcast team. WRDE-TV is seen on Comcast channels 9 and 809, Mediacom channels 9 and 809, Direct TV and Dish Network 31 and over-the-air at 31.1. My Cozi TV and My Network TV programming airs on Comcast 204 and over-the-air at 31.2. My Cozi TV is part of the Philadelphia Phillies television network and the Philadelphia Eagles preseason network. At this time, FiOS subscribers do not have access to WRDE-TV.
