Zacharias opens Zartfarm Gallery in Onancock, Va. to visitors

Show dates set Oct. 25, 26, and 27
October 9, 2017

Longtime Cape Region resident John Zacharias has landed. A little south, but at full blast.

You might think you have entered a mad scientist’s lab, and that isn’t far from the truth. Those who know Zacharias have seen his conceptual art take shape in the form of abstract expressionism. He creates pieces that move and tell a story. His large acrylic paintings are part of his current work, some created with metal and electricity. "I'm a movement artist, presenting what I see around me, in this time period of my life," he said

The show “Let’s Play” is a look at the world through Zacharias’ eyes, which are sometimes frustrated with the world and humanity. He turns his energy toward metal, paint and found objects to create larger-than-life exhibits, with a statement.

Zacharias asks of the viewer, “As you read this, I want you to stop and think about the last time you enjoyed art and music without having something else to do, or some other place you had to be, JUST STOP!"

Complete with theatrical lighting and sound, participants will step into his perspective soon after arriving at the property.  Zacharias hopes to illustrate his point of view. "I want to raise questions in the viewers’ minds by showing the greed of man; why so many objects made with human hands have no meaning, and what people are really doing with work, life, the past, present and future," Zacharias said.

Zartfarm, is now at 15456 Cashville Road, Onancock, Va. The show begins Oct. 25 and will run three consecutive days from 5 to 8 p.m. He is limiting guests to 25 each evening. RSVP by going to zartfarm.eventbrite.com or email johnzacharias1@mac.com.
