‘We’re All Plastic People Now’ free screenings set May 2, 4

April 17, 2024

In partnership with Oceana and local organizations MERR Institute and Plastic Free Delaware, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society will present a free screening of the compelling documentary, “We’re All Plastic People Now,” at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 2, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive, Lewes.

The documentary shows how plastic has given rise to an era of throwaway ease. For all the marvelous applications and uses of plastic, the convenience has cost humans their well-being. Micro plastic is found in the air, waterways, soil and inside bodies – in colons, brains, breast milk and developing babies. Scientists around the country are sounding the alarm.

A post-film discussion May 2 will include panelists John Weber of Oceana, Suzanne Thurman of MERR Institute and Dee Durham of Plastic Free Delaware.

An encore free screening will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4, with the recorded session of the panel discussion following.

Oceana provides these screenings free of charge, but registration is required. To sign up, go to rehobothfilm.com, call 302-313-4032 or visit the Cinema Art Theater box office from 12 to 8 p.m., Wednesday to Friday.
