Summer League Games for Week Two

 

Elementary Division

 

To open the week in the elementary division the Tides and the Dunes played to a 2-2 results with the Tides taking the first half lead on goals by Layla Conn and Shea Danahy but the Dunes earned the tie with goals from Emilyn Swope and Anna Crenshaw in the second half of the game. In the other game on Monday, the Waves exploded for a 7-0 win over the Guards. Norah Block (2), Addison Breneman (4), and Alexandra Ellis did the scoring for the Waves.

On Wednesday, the Waves continued their strong play with a 3-0 victory over the Tides behind goals from Norah Block (2) and Alex Ellis. In the other game of the evening, the Dunes earned a 4-0 win over the Guards. Leighton Swope had the hat trick and Anna Crenshaw had the solo goal for the Dunes.

The league resumes on Monday, June 25 with the Waves vs the Dunes and the Guards vs the Tides.

 

Senior Division

 

First, a correction from the results on Monday, June 11th: the Baffins defeated the Seahawks by a final of 3-2. Confusion about the name of a scorer caused the mistake. Cami Smith scored the winning goal with about four minutes to play. The goal had been credited to a player with a similar name on the Seahawks.

 

On Monday, June 18th, the Baffins and the Corals played to a 3-3 result. The Corals took the opening half lead behind goals by Carrie Clasius and Darby Klopp while Taylor Smith had the single goals for the Baffins. Clausius’ second goal of the evening early in the second half pushed the Corals to a 3-1 edge but Riley Cordrey scored at 13:35 and Cami Smith earned the tie with her goal at 3:10. Goalies were Mikayla Smith and Eve Sescinski.

After a 2-2 result in the opening half between the Seahawks and the Artics, with Noelle Sabbagh and Alexa Rhodunda scoring for the Artics while Emma Ruley and Madi Cook had the goals for the Seahawks, Amanda Sponaugle got the game winner at 13:27 for the Seahawks, Rylee Pettyjohn added the insurance goal at 8:29 to make the final a 4-2 win for the Seahawks. Goalkeepers were Regan Best and Mya Parks.

The third game of the evening ended in a 3-1 result for the Pumas over the Bengals. Carey Karl gave the Pumas the first half lead and Lily Ashby and Liv Muir finished the scoring for the Pumas in the second half. A late goal by Hailey Moore was not enough to ignite the Bengals for the evening. Marlee Geppert and Smith were the keepers in the game.

Wendesday’s action in a light drizzle saw the Baffins earn a 4-1 win over the Artics. Grace Wiggins had the first half goal for the Baffins while Noelle Sabbagh did the same for the Artics. Riley Cordrey, Taylor Smith and Cami Smith had the second half goals to earn the win for the Baffins.

Game two of the night ended with the Seahawks coming back from a 0-2, halftime deficit, to earn the victory with goals by Sierra Jester (2) and Madi Irwin. LeeLee Wilson and Lacy Bayley did the scoring for the Bengals. Mikayla Smith and Regan Best did the goal keeping duties. The last game of the week was another close match between the Corals and the Pumas. Bella Conte opened the scoring for the Corals in the first half but things really heated up in the second half when Lily Ashby tied the game at 17:50 but Marissa Conte put the Corals back into the lead at 15:02. Ashby got her second goal of the night at 14:05 but the Hannah Maney scored the game winner at 5:15, earning the win for the Corals. Marlee Geppert and Julie Heffernan were in the cages for the teams.

Action continues on Monday, June 25th with the Seahawks vs the Pumas, Artics vs the Corals and the Baffins vs the Bengals.
