HONEYMOON SALAD

These beautiful red sails and buttercrunch lettuces are straight from the garden of my friend Ed.  He brought them for us to enjoy along with new lettuce plants for the fall garden. Thanks, Ed.
 
And thanks to Stephen Colbert for telling us about HONEYMOON SALAD ("lettuce alone, no dressing"). 
 
So when you are ready for dressing, why not try DAVID'S DELIGHT: 1 part mustard of your choice, 2 parts salsa, 3 parts balsamic vinegar! Or try Jane Esselstyn's 1-2-3 dressing pictured here. Both are delicious with fresh greens and additional chopped veggies, beans, or mushrooms. Why no oil? Because oil is pure fat and contributes to weight gain and disease by damaging the lining of the blood vessels. To learn more about the problem with oil consumption, watch Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn:
