The Culture Trip has an audience of more than 2 million
March 26, 2016

The Ellen Rice Gallery has recently been named one of 10 Must-See Art Galleries and Museums in Delaware by an award-winning international art, culture, food and travel advisory group, The Culture Trip.

Curated by writers, videographers and photographers with offices in London, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Texas, Chicago, Toronto, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Rome, Mumbai, Melbourne, Shanghai, Israel and Nairobi, The Culture Trip has an audience of more than 2 million monthly readers and 500,000 social media followers.

The reviewers write, “The number of small galleries established by independent, native Delawarean artists and devoted solely to their work is admirable. One of the finest examples is the Ellen Rice Gallery featuring work primarily by the eponymous artist, but also including over 140 contemporary artisans. Rice is labeled ‘one of the East Coast’s most collected artists’ and her works are favored in private, government and corporate collections throughout the United States, specializing predominantly in coastal scenes of local beauty. Rice prioritizes a synesthetic artistic experience in the gallery itself, selecting the rustic coastal setting to allow environmental continuity to run seamlessly from exterior to interior, hand-picking the meditative soundtrack from sound artists of national and international repute.”

Rice’s gallery is in good company in the art venue review, which includes the Biggs Museum of American Art, the Sommerville Manning Gallery, the Anita Peghini-Räber Gallery, the University of Delaware Museums, the Delaware Art Museum, the Delaware Museum for the Contemporary Arts, the Nemours Mansions and Gardens, the Blue Ball Barn and Delaware Folk-Art Collection and the Schoonover Studios.

Ellen Rice and her gallery have received numerous awards over her 50-year career as a professional artist in Delaware and the gallery’s 17 years along the Delaware coastline. Rice was named Best Artist by Coastal Style Magazine readers in its 2015 competition. She was voted One of Delaware’s 10 Most Collectible Shore Artists several years ago by Delaware Beach Life Magazine and the gallery was named a national NICHE Top Retailer Award finalist for its commitment to representing only American artists and artisans.

Visitors can meet Rice in the studio space in her gallery from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturdays and other hours by appointment. The Ellen Rice Gallery is a half block from the Atlantic Ocean in the Blue Surf building on the south side of the Bethany Beach grandstand at 98 Garfield Parkway, Suite 109.
