Shirley R. Willey, loving caregiver

Shirley R. Willey, 80, of Georgetown passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at her home.

Shirley was born in Richmond, Va., the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Rosie (Gibson) Young.

She was a homemaker, a caregiver and a foster mother with the State of Maryland, giving love and a loving home to numerous children over the years. She also enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. She always loved when her family would get together. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crafts.

She was a member of the Georgetown Wesleyan Church and the Gumboro Wesleyan Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Keith; and brother, Sonny Young.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles V. Willey; five children, Donald Willey (Judy), Kenneth Willey (Lauryn), Timothy Willey (Barbara), Karen Brimmer (Keith) and Diane Davidson (William); one sister, Brenda Crowder; three brothers, Tex Young, William Crowder and Daniel Crowder; seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Kristen, Donald Jr., Matthew, Rebecca, Brandon (Sarah) and Kyle; and five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Zaccary, Ashton, Stephen and Elizabeth.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 20, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be held at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
