A Lewes pediatrician charged with raping children took videos of several of his encounters, including one that an experienced police detective described as among the most violent and brutal attacks on a child of any age that he has seen captured on video.

Dr. Earl B. Bradley now faces 27 charges including four charges of first-degree rape, two charges of second-degree rape and 14 charges of sexual exploitation of a child.

Court documents show police searched Bradley's BayBees pediatrics office on Route 1, where they recovered several "thumb" drives and digital drives from an outbuilding. Police say Bradley was known to take patients to this building, without their parents, to give the children a treat.

Bradley's bright, child-friendly offices feature toys, Disney-themed rooms and a theater where young patients could watch cartoons, but based on court documents, for several of Bradley's patients, the rear outbuilding can only be described as a house of horror.

Bradley, 56, is a big man, 6 feet tall, weighing 225 pounds.

In one video seized by police, Bradley engages in violent sex acts with a 3- to 6-month old who screams and resists.

An 11-minute video described in court records shows Bradley performing sex acts on a 2- to 3-year old child who screams and twice attempts to run away, but he recaptures her.

In an 8-minute video police described as the most violent, Bradley, with an enraged expression on his face, sexually assaults a 2-year-old, yelling repeatedly at the hysterical child.

One video depicts a girl described as 12 to 13 years old.

Court records indicate the videos show incidents recorded in August, November and December of this year.

Police spokesman Cpl. Thomas Guarini said police have been aware of complaints against Dr. Bradley for about a year, but until this month, they did not have enough evidence to file charges against him. "When we were finally able to have enough evidence to charge him, we were also able to get search warrants approved," Guarini said.

Police on Wednesday, Dec. 16, charged Bradley with three offenses including second-degree rape. That's also when they obtained a warrant to search Bradley's offices, where they found the videos. They sought an additional warrant to examine the videos, which led to 24 additional charges Friday, Dec. 18.

Bradley is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $2.9 million cash bail.
