The Delaware Symphony Orchestra, the Delaware State University Chorus and the Wesley College Chorus will join together to bring one unforgettable evening of music and song to the Schwartz Center stage. In celebration of Black History Month the program will focus on pieces either composed by or for the African American community, dating back to the seventeen and eighteen hundreds to present. The Delaware Symphony Orchestra has entertained and educated listeners of all ages in the Delaware Valley for more than 100 years. Please join the Schwartz Center for the Arts in celebrating Black History with these vocal and orchestral works.

Adults: $35, Senior/Military: $32, Student: $25, Child: $18

Programming includes words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. narrated by Reverend John Moore, Sr. of Calvary Baptist Church in Dover.

*pre-concert talk begins at 7:00 pm. Scholars will discuss the history of vocal and choral music for orchestra by composers of African American descent and how these artists worked on music and their craft as compared to today.

This program is partially funded by a grant from the Delaware Humanities Forum, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
