Field hockey faces Delmar at home Tuesday night
September 24, 2012

Allie Yeager got her first career hat trick but no hat - what up? - Sept. 21 at Cape as the field hockey team stood whack for whack with a physical and energetic, no-back-down Dover team before wearing the Senators out 6-0 over 60 minutes of contested action.

The Vikings will host 5-0 undefeated Delmar at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25, in a rematch of last year's state title game won by Cape 3-2. The Wildcats have outscored opponents 30-0.

Cape scored early in the Dover game on a corner as Anna Frederick left the ball for Big T, Tiara Duffy, and the all-state defender didn’t miss sending a low liner home for the game's first goal at the 28:18 mark of the first half.

Minutes later at 25:13, it was Allie Yeager from Camryn Bernheimer for a 2-0 Cape advantage.

Dover goalie Brooke Roderick, bare-armed in a beater shirt, energetically directed her defense to tighten up while Senators coach Denise Kimbro was audible on every play to everyone within a stone's throw of the screaming green pitch.

Cape continued to push the action offensively while Vikings goalies Katie Kolobielski and Christina Gooding saw four shots the entire game with Gooding forced to make a save.

Finally at 15:53 Yeager sent home a slap shot which was followed by an Izzie Delario goal on an assist from Frederick at 14:43 and Yeager again on an assist from Delario at 11:00 as Cape moved comfortably in front 5-0.

The final Cape goal was scored by freshman Tess Bernheimer, who got behind the Dover goaltender, received a pass from Amanda Atkinson, then scored into an open net.

The Cape junior varsity beat the Senators 8-1 as Lizzie Frederick (Sydney Ostroski assist), Coryn Cannon (Ostroski) and Maddie Irwin (Erin Coverdale) scored for a 3-0 early lead.

Ananda Cann (Francess Blake) scored for Dover and Sydney Ostroksi scored off an assist from Lizzie Frederick as Cape led 4-1 at the half.

Cape scored four second-half goals by Morgan Catts, Erin Coverdale (Irwin), Coverdale and Carey Karl (Alexis Gooch)

Dover goalie Brooklyn Peete had 12 saves. Gooding and Shannon McCall shared the goaltending duties for Cape.
