Cornell, Sinnott embark on voyage of marriage

October 9, 2012

Kristin Cornell and Justin Sinnott were married on the 10th anniversary of Talk Like a Pirate Day, Sept. 19, 2012.  Two hundred forty-five turns of the hourglass later, they commandeered the banquet hall at Timothy's Tap House and Raw Bar in Rehoboth Beach with help from their parents, Annette and George Cornell of Lewes, and Debi and Gerard Sinnott of Berlin, Md.

Dennis Forney officiated the ceremony, demanding such an enthusiastic entrance for the bridal party that sailors and landlubbers alike set down (or threw back) their grog to make way for the procession. Wench of honor Kerin Toomey and best mate Paul Freed led the line, followed by hearties Jenny Meister, James Toomey, Cameron Jahnigen, Elizabeth Layton, Noel Bowman, Lindsay Taylor and flower lass Kirra Hearn.

Even with the threat of walking the plank if vows were ever broken, the pirate bride and groom pledged to give each other constant love and friendship through low and high tides. The swashbuckling celebration continued with a rum and ale toast, followed by a roast pig feast. Steve Rothwell, known as DJ HusH, kept the party shaking and shimmying with a variety of beats through the night.

The couple is planning a late honeymoon to a faraway shore next year.
