October 24, 2012

The Sussex Family YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign Thank You Dinner and Silent Auction will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, at Rehoboth Beach Country Club. This annual event celebrates YMCA volunteers and community collaborators and thanks area donors who have supported the Strong Kids Campaign.

The featured speaker will be Carrie Lingo, Cape Henlopen High School graduate and USA Olympic Field Hockey team member.  Lingo's field hockey accomplishments include serving as captain of the University of North Carolina team as well as being a USA Women’s National Team and Pan American Team member. Lingo brings an inspiring message of the positive benefits of sports and exercise for kids and adults.

The dinner’s emcee will be meteorologist John Trout, WBOC-TV’s Flying Weatherman. Trout can be seen regularly on TV and is part of the WBOC Storm Tracker Weather Center team of meteorologists.

The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign raises $100,000 annually for assistance for kids and families who would otherwise be financially unable to participate at the Y.  Donors who contribute $125 or more to the campaign are invited to the dinner.
