It is with a great deal of gratitude that the Milton Chamber of Commerce thanks our member businesses for helping to make our recent festival, Bargains on the Broadkill, a great success. These loyal businesses have been a major part of all we do in Milton. Bargains on the Broadkill has been ongoing for 22 years. It is a family-oriented festival that brings visitors to our town and paddlers to the Broadkill River.
One of the highlights is the Great Duck Race, the finale of a great day. It is totally dependent on the tides - some years we have an outgoing tide; some years we have an incoming tide. The latter causes all sorts of problems as the ducks scurry under the bridge and out of play. And other years the tide is still as often happens, causing the duck race to become a “duck pluck” which was the case this year. No matter what, the competitors seem to enjoy the results.
This year we were able to offer 27 prizes. Winners were from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties and prizes ranged from $25 to the grand prize of $500 donated by the Milton Chamber of Commerce.

Two others deserve a special mention of thanks: Eleana Cooke who works with all of the vendors, and Vicki Sammons, who has been our Duck Race chairman for several years. They bring heart and tireless energy to our efforts. We also thank the Milton Theatre organization for their Canoe and Kayak Race which takes place on the same day bringing another level of fun and enjoyment to the event. We hope all of our visitors as well as our winners will support our fine Milton businesses and continue to enjoy future visits to our charming town at the head of the Broadkill River.
