Red Cross response efforts continue as Sandy strengthens

October 29, 2012

The American Red Cross Delmarva Region continues its response efforts as Hurricane Sandy’s impact on the region strengthens.  Last night, seven shelters were open throughout the state of Delaware with a total overnight population of 528.  In addition, nearly 750 snacks and more than 500 meals were served.

The Red Cross urges residents to stay safe during Hurricane Sandy by heeding warnings from officials.  For more details on open shelters and other critical information, go to redcross.org/delmarva. Residents may also register themselves with Red Cross Safe and Well at safeandwell.org. After a disaster, letting family and friends know that one is safe and well can bring loved ones great peace of mind. The Safe and Well website is designed to help make that communication easier.

Those with iPhones and Androids can download the free Red Cross Hurricane app for safety tips, storm updates, and other important information.
