Gertrude Vann, faithful disciple

October 31, 2012

Gertrude Vann was born May 1, 1928, in Rehoboth Beach, to George and Mable Burton.  She went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, in Rehoboth Beach.

Gertrude married the love of her life, Ozie Vann, and they were together for a glorious 63 years. From this union they were blessed with two sons: Ronniere L. Burton and Clyde B. Vann.

Gertrude obtained her education in the Rehoboth Beach school system, later attending Howard High School in Wilmington.

Gertrude accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized during her discipleship at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach. She then continued to actively participate as a disciple with Faith United Methodist Church.  She remained a faithful member and pianist for the Kingdom Builders Children’s Choir and the Self Choir that were dear to her heart. Being as faithful as she could and close to the Lord, she was born and resided right next door to the church until the Lord called her home.

Left to cherish so many wonderful memories are her loving husband, Ozie Vann of Rehoboth Beach; and two deeply devoted sons, Ronniere L. Burton and Clyde B. Vann (Mimi) both of Raleigh, N.C.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at Friendship Baptist Church, 500 W. 4th Street, Lewes, where friends may call two hours prior.
