Melson thanks election supporters

November 9, 2012

I would like to thank all of the people who supported me in the 14th District House of Representatives campaign. I would also like to thank everyone who ran for office, or helped someone who did. It is not easy to make that decision to put yourself out for public critique and comment, and there is a lot of work that happens behind the scenes.

I offer congratulations to Pete Schwartzkopf, and all other successful candidates. I hope each decision you make will be made with the interest of the citizenry and the Constitution in mind.

Finally, I apologize for being mostly absent in the last part of the campaign. Like Lemony Snicket, I encountered a series of unfortunate events which required my full attention, which ended with me becoming very ill.

I was unable to attend the League of Women Voters event at Cadbury, not because I didn't show up, but due to this illness, and they were notified by me. I am not attending the Return Day Parade because I cannot risk a relapse.

Thank you again for all of your support. May this country be blessed,  especially Sussex County.

Margaret V. Melson
