East Coast Garden Center students create Living Thanksgiving

November 25, 2012

East Coast Garden Center hosted a Living Thanksgiving Centerpiece class for the Bethany Women’s Group Nov. 15 during which the students created a centerpiece that would last well beyond the holiday. The materials used included pansies, ferns, cattails, wheat stalks, pheasant feathers, lotus pods and bows for the final touch.

Shown are in back (l-r) Nancy Walsh, Mary Headman, Sue Allenspach, Lois Rubinsohn, Diana Cowell, Barbara Junkin, Carol Stevevson (obscured), Martha Lowe, Margaret Oliver, Florence Smith, Kathy Wiblin and Joan Bogden. In front are Maria Johansen, Lora Caputo and instructor Karen Fox.

Although the materials used were the same for everyone, the women got to see all the creativity displayed in individual arrangements.  East Coast Garden Center will welcome all clubs and groups as a meeting place. Upcoming events include Girls, Gifts and Good Tidings, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27;   Decorate a Fresh Wreath, 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1;  Holiday Centerpiece Demo, 2 p.m., and Christmas Open House and Customer Appreciation, 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8;  and How To Make A Natural Wreath, 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13.
