Jane King Bennett, VIA member

Jane King Bennett died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, in Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Albert Barnes and Edith (Fogg) King.

She was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware, class of 1941. She worked as a middle school teacher in New Castle. She was a lifelong member of the Sussex Gardeners, a member of the Village Improvement Association and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rehoboth Beach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Norman Bennett. She is survived by three sons, Joshua N. (Jot) Bennett and his wife Sandy, Albert King Bennett and Jonathan Wilbur Bennett and his wife Caroline; five grandchildren, Jennifer Bennett Walker, Lexi, Josh, Dylan, Sean Bennett; and one great-grandchild, Eli Walker.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, in Westminster Presbyterian Church, King Charles Avenue and Laurel Street, Rehoboth Beach. A private graveside committal service will be in Milford Community Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 301 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, or the Rehoboth Beach Public Library, 226 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Arrangements by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford.
