Darin Beckett scores two touchdowns in Coolspring Turkey Bowl

November 26, 2012

The 43rd annual Coolspring Thanksgiving Day tackle football Turkey Bowl was won 15-0 by the team that had Darrin Beckett at wide receiver and Rob Moore at quarterback.

Moore, a flag football fixture for the Outkast team in the Reboboth YMCA league, escaped twice in the second half and found Beckett in open space, and the Sussex Tech Division One 2012 state champion in the high hurdles created mismatches all over the field, busting loose for a pair of touchdowns.

The draft and pregame prayer are followed by a game of two timed halves that no one seems to be timing.

Larry Oliver in his customary McNabb jersey quarterbacked the losing team but late in the game gave way to D.D. Gooch, still a senior at Cape Henlopen.

Medals were given out afterward by Commissioner Anthony Hopkins to the winning team, the chain gang, the officials and a few spectators related to winning team members.
