Holiday Small Jewels show opens at Peninsula Gallery Dec. 8

Several new artists to participate

Lewes's Peninsula Gallery will present its Ninth Annual Small Jewels show featuring more than 20 artists showing small works of art and fine crafts, with an opening reception set from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8.

“This is a really fun and entertaining show for the gallery and a great way for us to finish up a very successful first year,” said BJ Clark, new owner of Peninsula Gallery.  “It allows us to include a large number of artists in a show in a festive and holiday air. Each piece is less than 100 square inches in size and there will be a large variety of themes and media.”

This year several artists will participate in the show for the first time, including Beth Clark of West Chester, Pa., who works in pastel and oil; Vincent Hughes of Washington, D.C., watercolorist;  Bob Richey of New Hope, Pa., who works in pastel; Denise Dumont of Milton, who will become a regular artist of the gallery in 2013; well know watercolorist John Bayalis; George Williams of Lewes; Barbara Warden, a Lewes resident and fiber artists who is now also working in drawing and painting in mixed media; John Schisler of Georgetown and Victor Letenoff of Lewes, both still life artists.

In addition many of well known local and regional artists will present new work in the show including Michelle Marshall, Meg Walsh, Steve Rogers, Pat Staby, Bill Snow, Nick Serratore, Kim Klabe, Karin Snoots, Betsy Vondreele and Howard Eberle.  Working in glass, metal or polymer, several artists will present three dimensional art, including well know Delaware jewelry creator Arden Bardol. Yandong Wang, a regular member of the St Peter’s Show and the outdoor Rehoboth Art League summer show, will present ornaments of mixed metals. Two new artists, Jim Charneski of Ashville, N.C. and Jason Howard of Skaneateles, N.Y. will present work in metal and glass.

The show has become a tradition for the gallery and this year will extend through the holiday season into the new year and will end the third week of January. The Peninsula Gallery, located at 520 E. Savannah Road, is currently in its 16 year and presents fine art from more than 20 artists, monthly exhibits as well as framing and restoration services.

Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday. From Dec. 21 to the end of January the gallery is closed Monday and Tuesday. For details call 302-645-0551.
