2012 Mid-Del Foundation provides grant to Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition
Representatives from 35 Delaware organizations were awarded financial grants by the Mid-Del Charitable Foundation Nov. 19 at Harrington Casino. The foundation, developed to consolidate the charitable undertakings of the Delaware State Fair Inc. and Harrington Raceway Inc., supports Delaware-based organizations and charitable, educational, and scientific endeavors which address a wide range of issues including health and human services, the arts, agriculture, education and the environment.
Howell F. Wallace, president of the Mid-Del Charitable Foundation, says, “We are so very proud to award financial grants to these deserving organizations so they are able to continue to reach out and affect so many members of our community during these dire economic times. Every recipient honored here today tries long and hard to ensure the quality of life for so many in our downstate communities.”
The mission of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is to empower the community by raising awareness of breast health issues through outreach, education and support services, in order to facilitate early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
Funds will go toward the peer-to-peer support service to young women 45 years of age or under in Kent and Sussex counties who have been diagnosed with breast cancer through the Young Survivors Initiative.
For any organization interested in applying for 2013 consideration, proposals must be submitted via the official Mid-Del Charitable Foundation grant application form which is now available.
