Thanks from Dewey tree lighting committee

December 4, 2012

On behalf of the Dewey Beach Civic League, I would like to thank each of you personally for your help in making the 2012 Holiday Gathering a great success. Although it was very cold, residents and visitors alike came out and enjoyed this wonderful community event.

I will make every effort to recognize each person who has helped with this event. The initial installation of the yard decorations were done with help from Melissa Clink, Dale Cooke, Judy Davis, Bob Day, Rob Marshall, Alvin Huffman, Jimmy O’Connor, Mark Allen, Jenny Taylor, Denise Campbell and myself. Tree decorating, its own little celebration, was accomplished by Stephanie and Zeke Przygocki, Amy Peitlock, Greg Plummer, Cliff Dempsey, Pat Wright, Rob Marshall and Joseph Laird. Additional help was given by the Starboard staff along with Chris Mal and Mark Allen under the watchful eye of Kelly Ranieri.

Many thanks are also extended to John Glenn, American Hardscapes, for donating the tree and Dale Cooke and Betty and Jim Laird for donating new lighted displays. Word is that Jimmy O’Connor donated multicolored tree lights. Heartfelt thanks go to Santa and Mrs. Claus, for their kindness to the children.

Special thanks to Steve Montgomery for all of his support, organization and hard work by arranging for the music and bonfires and providing the staging, and adult beverages for the event. Graciously, Jimmy O’Connor of Woody’s cooked and donated hotdogs and hamburgers for the guests along with Joey Cherico of Hooked on Plants, who provided sweet treats and cider. Joining us also was Greg Plummer from Hammerheads who provided pulled pork sandwiches and special hot cider!

Additional thanks go to Fifer’s Orchard Market for allowing us the use of the parking lot, outdoor space, and providing electricity to the area. Thanks go to the Dewey Beach Lions Club, Friends of Dewey and the Dewey Beach Business Partnership for donations, time and promotion. Additional promotion was received from Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce and Citizens to Preserve Dewey. Finally, thanks to all residents and visitors for your donations. These donations defray a portion of the events expenses to ensure the continuation of the event for years to come! Enjoy the holiday season and the lights in Dewey!
