Seasonal Gems exhibit opens at The Kitchen at Paynter's Mill

December 10, 2012

Passion is what  pushes people to write, cook and create, even when it takes more time than they think they can muster. Chef  and Culinary Institute Graduate, Ray Richardson along with  sous-chef Ryan Betts, of The Kitchen at Paynter's Mill show their passion in the tasty dishes they whip up with artistic flair.

Their lucky diners are served in a comfortable environment, warmed by a sparkling  fireplace and original local art.  Delaware Beach Life Magazine, which recently featured co-owner Lisa Richardson, highlighted this hidden gem of a restaurant as one of the best new dining spots presenting local art.  Lisa's appreciation and knowledge of good food and camaraderie are apparent as she shares conversation and caters to the many regulars who frequent The Kitchen - some of whom have followed Chef Ray and Lisa from their former establishment - the Second Street Grill in Lewes.

Seven artists are currently exhibiting in the show titled Seasonal Gems, which features fall and winter themed work. All seven artists are fueled by passion and the  pursuit of perfection in their own field. Tony Pratt is a full time senior administrator at the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.  Pam Aquilani works in a Milford dental office during the day and composes exquisite photos on the weekends. Plus, both she and Pratt exhibit and occasionally work at Kevin Fleming's Gallery in Rehoboth.  Yvonne Frankis has no choice but to be a workaholic in the Nation's Summer's Capitol, as she runs Playland Arcade on the Rehoboth Boardwalk,  a business she owns with her husband Bill.

Frankis knows that job gives her time in the winter to paint. Joyce Blakslee always wanted to retire to the beach and paint. After many years of study, she now pursues painting with a serious zeal.  Billie Jean Joseph, the fresh-faced and familiar server at The Kitchen, is also a serious photographer on the side and shows her work here. Libby Zando owns and operates Zando Designs, a 30-year-old local business that specializes in construction and landscape design. Yet she still finds time for her passion for painting and organizing venues like this one for artists to display and sell.

For more information call Zando at 302-684-4601 or The Kitchen at 302-827-4050.
