Sadowski named first team soccer All-American at Lynchburg

December 6, 2012

Lynchburg College junior defender Rachel Sadowski was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of American First-Team All-American on Dec. 4.  It is the sixth straight season the program has had an All-American performer.

A first-team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference and All-South Region honoree this fall, Sadowski anchored one of the strongest defenses in the nation. The Hornets ranked ninth in the country in goals-against average (0.423) and fourth in shutout percentage (0.72). The last line of Hornets defense as the center back, Sadowski stymied many offensive opportunities from opponents.

Sadowski also found the back of the net five times on the offensive end; two of those goals were game winners.

A true scholar-athlete, Sadowski was honored for her efforts in the classroom by the College Sports Information Directors of America this season, earning Academic All-District 5 honors. An environmental science major, she boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.96.
