Milton council grants Bay Avenue home historic status

December 27, 2012

Milton Town Council unanimously approved designating the home and property located at 111 Bay Ave. as a historic site. The home, built in 1913, lies about one block outside the town's historic district. Property owner Michael Filicko asked council for special designation so he could apply for grants from the state and federal governments. James Biever, a consultant to the Filicko family, said $5 million each year is made available to people to recover some of the costs of owning and maintaining a historic home. Milton Project Coordinator Robin Davis said this is the first home outside of the historic district to be granted such a designation. The Filicko property will now have to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by town code and the historic preservation committee.
