Richard Y. Johnson & Son wins Green Building Award for Safe Haven

December 27, 2012

Richard Y. Johnson & Son won the American Builders & Contractors 2012 Delaware Green Building Award for Safe Haven No-Kill Animal Sanctuary in Georgetown. The award was created to recognize the contractors who are pioneering sustainable green building practices in the construction business. RYJ also won a Merit Award for Excellence in Construction for Safe Haven.

Shown with the awards are (l-r) Safe Haven board member Lois Fargo, RYJ Vice President Dean Johnson and Safe Haven Executive Director Anne Gryczon.

Johnson said, "Building a facility that is good for the environment and provides lower operational cost for the owner gives you a lot of satisfaction, especially when the facility serves a service to the community for saving animals."

"Not only is this good for the environment, but by building an eco-friendly building, we can save on utility costs and have greater funds left to help more animals," said Gryczon.
