Lewes police charge Sam Donaldson with DUI
December 19, 2012
Sam Donaldson, a former ABC political correspondent, was arrested Dec. 1 in Lewes after police say he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
A Lewes Police Department officer stopped Donaldson, 78, around 8 p.m., for a traffic violation on Savannah Road.
An investigation revealed Donaldson had been drinking alcohol; he was given standard field sobriety tests and was arrested, said Lt. James Azato, department spokesman. Donaldson's blood alcohol level at the time of his arrest was not available.
Donaldson, a McLean, Va., resident, will be required to appear in a Delaware court on the charge, but no court date has been set.
