Let's keep focused on preventing carnage

December 21, 2012

During the war in Iraq, public opinion was mobilized in various ways. One which kept many of us focused was a small corner of the front page in some newspapers that listed the toll of lives lost during the conflict.

In the same way, we must focus in on the carnage caused by guns in our country. While we now grieve the incredible loss and sorrow, for all of us, of the deaths of innocent children, we must recognize that these deaths, usually singly, occur every day in the United States.

How about a corner of the front page of the newspaper, again placing front and center, the toll guns take on us?

Keep us focused past the latest event. Continue to remind that action has to be taken to prevent continuing carnage.
