An Evening Escape fundraiser for Sussex Preparatory Academy set Jan. 26
The Parent Committee for Sussex Preparatory Academy will host An Evening Escape, a night of dancing, refreshments and fun, Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Marvel Museum, 510 South Bedford St., Georgetown.
The event, scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m., will feature a 45-minute dance instruction with Dance Moves and Manners, a Chinese auction, a 50/50 with food catered by My Turn to Cook, and beer provided by Dogfish Head. The ticket cost of $35 per person includes two drink tickets, which will be good for beer, wine or soda. A cash bar will be available.
Sussex Preparatory Academy, the first charter high school in Sussex County, will open with its first ninth-grade class for the 2013-14 school year. Recently, leaders from Delmarva Christian High School and Sussex Academy of Arts and Sciences announced that Sussex Preparatory Academy Foundation will purchase the DCHS facility, and in turn, the Delmarva Christian Schools will purchase the SAAS facility.
Sussex Preparatory Academy will expand on SAAS’ current Expeditionary Learning and add an International Baccalaureate Program for junior and senior students. The high school will provide an environment that will allow students to continue their education while working toward acceptance in top-quality colleges.
The proceeds from An Evening Escape will go toward the Sussex Preparatory Academy’s Capital Campaign. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact Gina Derrickson at 302-542-6321 or ginalyncharles@comcast.net.
