Weekly Alateen support group meets at Epworth

January 2, 2013

A new weekly Alateen support group will be meeting every Monday evening at 6 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church on Glade Road in Rehoboth. Alateen is free and open to anyone from 13 to 19 years of age who has a friend or family member who struggles with a drinking problem.

The group provides fellowship and support and helps members learn from others who share similar experiences. At an Alateen meeting, meet others who share feelings and frustrations, if not the exact situation.

Alateen also provides insight on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous which aid in ending alcohol and substance abuse. Alateen is allied with Al-Anon which is for adults, but in Alateen, the focus is on teenagers from ages 13 to 19.

In Al-Anon and Alateen, people come together to learn a better way of life, to find happiness whether the problem drinker is still drinking or not. For the safety of attendees, all Alateen meetings are sponsored by two adult members of Al-Anon.

An Al-Anon meeting is held at the same time in another room if looking for adult support in dealing with another person's drinking problem. The Alateen meeting will be held in the first room on the left when entering from the Bayside entrance.

For more information about this meeting call 302-893-0613, or to learn more about Alateen, call 866-460-4070 or go to www.al-anon.alateen.org/index.php.
