Farm Bureau scholarship applications now available

Application deadline April 15
January 4, 2013

Applications are now being accepted for the Delaware Farm Bureau State Women’s Committee Scholarship Program.

Each year the Delaware Farm Bureau State Women’s Committee awards two scholarships. The first, a $2,500 agriculture scholarship, is awarded to a student who is majoring in and plans to pursue a career in the agricultural field. The second, a $1,000 scholarship, is given to a deserving high school or college student who is planning on continuing his or her education.

After the winners are selected, the applications are then turned over to each farm bureau in the county where the applicants reside. Those applicants are then considered for further scholarship recognition. All applicants and/or their parents must be members of the Delaware Farm Bureau for at least one year before applying for the scholarship. They must also maintain that membership for the life of the scholarship.

Applications must be typed and are due to the Farm Bureau State Office no later than Monday, April 15. All applications received after this date will be disqualified.

It should be noted that previous scholarship winners are not eligible to apply, all money is paid directly to the college and scholarship money will be issued after the student successfully completes the first semester.

For a complete list of rules, refer to the scholarship application. Applications are available at the farm bureau office at 3457 S. DuPont Highway, Camden, or by calling the office at 302-697-3183 to request one by mail or email.   Applications can be downloaded  by going to www.defb.org and clicking the Women’s Committee link under the Programs tab.
