Winter Jam fundraiser set for Jan. 25 in Rehoboth Beach

Supports Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation
January 9, 2013

Santa was certainly good to the planners of Winter Jam, as nearly 50 local businesses and organizations have donated products, services, or scholarship support for the sixth annual Winter Jam Fundraiser, set for 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. To date, more than $12,000 worth of support has been raised for the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation, sponsor of Winter Jam.

In keeping with this year’s theme of Under the Boardwalk, several local food service businesses are supplying boardwalk refreshments, from pizza, popcorn, candy and ice cream to iconic boardwalk French fries. Two bands with roots in the Cape Henlopen area - the Funsters and the Wise Guys - are donating their performances for the evening, and many district and community volunteers will be working to make this fundraiser a success.

Proceeds from Winter Jam fund the foundation, which offers small scholarships to Cape Henlopen School District employees for innovative, creative, student-focused projects for the classrooms. Past recipients have used the scholarships to take students on field trips, purchase new books or other resources to enhance classroom activities, or add technology in their classrooms.

Sponsors of the event include the following local businesses and organizations: Avenue Apothecary & Spa, the Beacon Motel, Beacon Pediatrics, Community Bank, Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales, Dr. & Mrs. Erik Stancofski, Investors Realty, Jake’s Seafood, Jungle Jim's, Mid Atlantic Family Practice, Prudential Gallo Realtors, Savannah Animal Hospital, Southern Delaware Imaging Associates, Schab and Barnett PA, SoDel Concepts, Shore Bank, Sposato Landscape, State Farm and George H. Bunting Jr., the Rash Team of Keller Williams Realty, Delaware Anesthesia Associates, Lingo Realty, Nicola Pizza, Rogers Sign Co., Sussex Emergency Associates, Below Book Auto Sales, Cape Gazette, Cape Orthopaedics, SPI Pharma, Richard Bryan Auctioneer, Best Ace Hardware, Bob Harman, King’s Homemade Ice Cream Shops, the Savannah Inn and Tidewater Utilities.

Winter Jam tickets are available in all Cape Henlopen school offices; the Cape Henlopen School District Office, 1270 Kings Highway, Lewes; and Browseabout Books on Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach. Advance tickets are $25 each; tickets will be available at the door for $30 each. The snow date is Saturday, Feb. 10, from 3 to 7 p.m.
