Cape swimming teams post two wins at Indian River

Cape swimming notched two wins at Indian River Jan. 14. The girls' team remained undefeated with a 120-47 win over the Indians while the boys posted a 106-61 victory.

The girls improved their season record to 7-0 behind a pair of individual wins by Colleen Bailey in the 200 freestyle 2:19 and 500 freestyle 6:17.1, and Kaitlin Philcox in the 200 IM 2:42.5 and 100 backstroke 1:10.7

Individual single-event winners were Grace Brokaw 100m butterfly 1:11.08, Romy Stancofski 100 freestyle 1:03.5, and Devon Warner 100 breaststroke 1:22.6.

Lauren McCoy of Indian River won the 50 freestyle 28:22.

Cape won all three relays: the 200 medley relay team of Philcox, Bailey, Warner and Brokaw 2:07.00, the 200 free relay team of Bailey, Stancofski, Sarah Koon and Brokaw 1:54.60 and the 400 free relay team of Philcox, Stancofski, Hannah Schrock and Barbara Dobrzanska 4:23.92.

The boys' team defeated Indian River 106-6,1 raising its record to 6-1 on the season.

Freshman Jack Weeks won the 200 freestyle 2:01 and 100 butterfly 56.9. Nick DiGuglielmo won the 50 free 23.8, while his brother Luke won the 100 backstroke 1:03.6.

Daniel Myers captured the 500 free in 6:08.6, while Charlie Burton won the 100 breaststroke 1:08.36.

Merrick Kovatch of IR won the 200 IM in 2:14 and Carter Michael won the100 freestyle 54.1.

Cape won the 200 medley relay with a team of Weeks, Mitchell, Burton and Nick DiGuglielmo 1:52.5, the 400 free relay by a team of  Weeks, Nick DiGuglielmo, Myers and Andrew Hynes 3:47.91. Indian River captured the 200 free relay with a team of Kovatch, Ben Boonin, Michael and Kees Elling 1:41.28.
