Students and staff at Rehoboth Beach Babies Child Care created a mural to show their support for Sandy Hook Elementary School. Parents suggested the students make snowflakes to send to the Connecticut school, but the school already had too many and were no longer accepting them.
They instead made a “Winter Wonderland” mural. Each class created a part of the mural. At the top of the mural the children are shown in heaven. The penguins also represent the victims. The snow owls represent angels looking down on the children.
Beach Babies Child Care Coordinator Jill Byrne said, “As early childhood educators, we were deeply saddened and shocked by the events of that day. We wanted to create something with the children that reflected these feelings as well as demonstrate that we can move forward from that tragic day.” All of the parents of the students were notified of the project.
