Prophetess Becky Breasure received the 2012 Pocahontas of the Year Award Jan. 4 in recognition of her commitment to the Degree of Pocahontas, Anona Council No. 11.
Breasure received her obligation for membership in the Anona Council No. 11 at the Red Men's Lodge in Georgetown in June 2006. After learning the stumps of Powhatan and Wenonah, she served Anona Council as Pocahontas in 2011, and is now a Past Pocahontas. She is residing as Prophetess for the council. She received her obligation at the Great Council Session meeting in 2011 and became a member of the Great Council of Delaware. She has served on the COPD Committee and is the journal clerk for the Great Council.
Breasure has been active locally and statewide and has encouraged many other members to attend functions and meetings. She has been very active in raising funds for the council's charity, Alzheimer's research. Even before she became a member of the council, she worked at the yearly car show. She has participated in the Alzheimer's annual walk.
She is currently chair for the Fundraising Committee and Holiday Dinners for the Anona Council. As the Fundraising Committee chair, she raised money by organizing a yard sale, quarter party, members' raffle and many more benefits. The funds from the benefits are donated to Alzheimer's causes.
