Erich Traum and Joe Zimmerman attend rehabilitation conference

January 27, 2013

Aquacare Physical Therapy has offered balance and vestibular evaluation and rehabilitation for the past 10 years at locations in Salisbury, Md., Lewes and Millville. In an effort to meet the increasing demand for those services, Aquacare announces that additional staff members have completed their training in the area of vestibular and balance rehabilitation.

Erich Traum, DPT, and Joe Zimmerman, PTA, will now offer services at the location on John J. Williams Highway in Millsboro. The education is based on a training program through the nationally recognized American Institute of Balance Education Foundation in Seminole, Fla.

Dizziness is the third most common complaint to doctors among the general population, exceeded only by headaches and lower back pain. Vestibular rehabilitation programs for patients with equilibrium disorders provide them with a successful alternative management strategy, allowing them to return to normal lives.

Regarding complaints of vertigo, dizziness or imbalance, patients no longer have to be told to learn to live with it. It has been estimated that 76 million Americans will experience dizziness or balance problems in their lifetime; the need for this type of treatment is evident.
