Rehoboth Beach Museum to host Valentine's Day musical revue

Clear Space Theatre Company to perform with World War II-era songs
January 30, 2013

Clear Space Theatre Company will perform a musical revue in the style of a World War II-era Stage Door Canteen at the Rehoboth Beach Museum at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14. This performance fits in with the World War II exhibit now on display at the museum.

The theater company will take the audience on a sentimental journey to another era with a presentation of popular wartime tunes. Songs including "Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” “You’ll Never Know,” and “I’ll Be Seeing You” will be performed.

Stage door canteens were special clubs, and the guests were the steady stream of GIs headed off to war. Many were leaving home for the first time, and the canteens offered a welcome opportunity to forget their anxieties, if only for a time, with entertainment, fellowship and a little American spirit.

Tickets are $14 in honor of the holiday, and Valentine-themed light refreshment food will be served. Seating is limited, and reservations are required. Call 302-227-7310 to reserve a seat.

The Rehoboth Beach Museum is the home of the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society. Winter hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays.  Regular admission is $5 for adults; $3 for seniors, college students and military; and $2 for children ages 13-17. Members and children 12 and under get in free. Society members receive free museum admission, newsletters, free admission to lectures and other activities, and notice of ticketed events.
