Delaware Head Huggers collecting knit hats for Kidshealth.org

Hats to be used for young cancer patients
February 1, 2013

Delaware Head Huggers is collecting handmade hats for Kidshealth.org,which is part of the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington.

Kidshealth has produced a video that helps preschool-age children understand what to expect from their cancer treatment. An excerpt of the video can be found at youtu.be/gmPzgtSC6i0.

There will be a launch in late February, and organizers are hoping to have a few hundred hats by then, with more coming in throughout the year.

They are asking everyone who can to knit hats - as many as possible - that match Finn's hat in the video. These hats will be given to the children, their siblings, parents, friends, classmates and anyone who wants to show some support for someone undergoing cancer treatment. Head Huggers wants these hats to look as similar to Finn’s as possible, so knitters should keep to the same colors and use the patterns found at knittingwithschnapps.blogspot.com/2013/01/introducing-finns-hat.html as well as on the Delaware Head Huggers Facebook page, www.facebook.com/pages/Delaware-Head-Huggers/250229674280 and at www.delawareheadhuggers.org.

All hats should be sent to Delaware Head Huggers. A list of drop-off sites throughout Delaware can be found at www.delawareheadhuggers.org/page8.php.

Hats can also be mailed directly to Delaware Head Huggers, 202 Acorn Forest Drive, Felton, DE 19943. Include name, address and email address so Head Huggers can let contributors know their hats arrived safely.

Hats of all sizes will be collected since these will be given to siblings and adult family members and friends as well as to the young children starting treatment.
