Fifth annual event will benefit Justin Jennings Foundation
February 2, 2013

The Delaware Seashore Parrothead Club will host its fifth annual Tropical Icebreaker for the benefit of Justin Jennings Foundation Saturday, Feb. 23, at Mango’s in Bethany Beach. Club members are thrilled to bring back Tropical Soul with special guest John Patti for the evening’s entertainment.

Tropical Soul hails from central Pennsylvania, and members have been playing nationally at numerous “trop rock” events for more than 10 years. Their music sends the audience on a journey south where the palm trees sway and warm ocean breezes blow. Venues played include Margaritaville in Key West, Fla.;  New Orleans, La.; and Orlando, Fla.; Hog's Breath Saloon in Key West, Fla.;  and Coconuts in Ocean City, N.J.

The Tropical Soul Band is made up of Dennis McCaughey, the band leader and founder on lead vocals, rhythm guitar and harmonica; Heather Sneeringer on vocals and guitar; Dave Huxta on vocals and bass; and Mark James on lead guitar and harmonies. They will be joined by steel pan player extraordinaire, John Patti, originally from Baltimore, Md., and now from Florida. Sneeringer was recently named one of the top female trop rock artists of 2012 by Beachfront Radio.

Sneeringer and Huxta are also members of Copper Sky, which frequently performs at Lewes summer concerts and local venues. To learn more about Tropical Soul, check out www.tropicalsoul.net.

The mission of the Justin W. Jennings Foundation is to support and maintain a home in the Bethany Beach area where families dealing with cancer can have a place of respite and enjoy some fun family time. It is a place of joy and peace at the beach. To learn more about the Justin Jennings Foundation, visit www.justinjennings.org.

The evening’s events include auctions, raffles, giveaways, buffet, entertainment and fun. Doors open at 4 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $35 by mailing a SASE to: DESPHC, PO Box 273, Nassau, DE 19969. Tickets at the door will be $40. For further details go to www.deseashorephc.com.
