Miss Cape Henlopen has love for the arts

Cape High senior takes message to young students
February 1, 2013

Rebecca Lusk, the new Miss Cape Henlopen, is taking her message to young students. The Cape Henlopen High School senior wants elementary school children to gain an appreciation for the arts and to take the message of the importance of the arts to their parents. Lusk, who won her title Jan. 5, is a dancer.

“Use these stars to tell why arts are important to you,” she told two first-grade classes Jan. 25 at Richard Shields Elementary School. She uses gold stars as part of her Students Thriving with Arts Requirements in Schools program.

She also helps the teachers, Diane Marshall and Patti Hocker, as an intern, and she plans to be an elementary school teacher.

Lusk is preparing to compete in the Miss Delaware pageant in June.
