Cape JROTC drill team and color guard excel at drill competition
The Cape Henlopen High School Junior ROTC Drill Team, led by Cadet Teague Elliott, and the Color Guard, led by Cadet Sylvester Lovett, successfully competed in their first drill competition of the year Jan. 26 at Sussex Central High School.
Competing against seven other teams from Delaware and Maryland schools, the Cape team finished with an overall second place with the color guard earning a first place and the drill team earning first place in Armed Drill and second place in Unarmed Drill and Armed Exhibition Drill.
The Cape Henlopen JROTC members who participated in the team competitions were Cadets Dean Hysock, Kristina Grasch, Lexy Atsidis, Bryanna Batter, Allie Mueller, Olivia Baratto, Josh Betts, Teague Elliott, Jack Ragone, Sylvester Lovett, Haile Barnes, Cody Ross, Dominique Tusso, Josh Williams, Adam Watts, Charles Kloetzi, James Albertella, Nick Swiderski, Eric Miller, Colby Garbutt, Katelyn Schneider and Alex Dominick.
Four cadets finished in the top five places for the Individual Drill event, with Cadet Ross Hicks leading the way with a second place and Cadets Teague Elliott, Allie Mueller, and Alex Dominick finishing in the third through fifth positions, respectively.
