A snowy night Under the Boardwalk

CHEF raises funds to support Cape students, teachers
February 1, 2013

Even a snowstorm could not deter hundreds from turning out Jan. 25 to support the Cape Henlopen Education Foundation's annual Winter Jam at Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

With a theme Under the Boardwalk, organizers decorated the convention center with everything associated with the beach including lifeguard stands, games, boardwalk benches, umbrellas and signs of iconic Rehoboth Beach establishments. Even the refreshments fit into the theme with fries, popcorn, pizza and ice cream being served. Nearly $20,000 was raised through ticket sales, auction items and sponsors. Entertainment was provided by the Wise Guys and Funsters.

The money supports Cape Henlopen schools, including $15,000 for teacher grants; three performing arts summer study grants for students at Beacon, Mariner, and Cape High School; teacher of the year grants; character programs that combat bullying; Academic Excellence grants and more.
