Dennis R. Keeler, DuPont retiree

Dennis Ronald Keeler, 64, of Wilmington, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, after a brief illness.

Dennis was born July 15, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of the late Neil Keeler and Estelle Stavena Keeler.

He is survived by Linda (Childress), his wife of 38 years; his sisters Patti Fulcher and Mary Fernandez (Joe); and sister-in-law Debbie Keeler. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael. He's also survived by nephews James Connally, Hunter and Parker Fernandez, Shane and Cory Keeler and niece Becky Fulcher.

Dennis graduated with a degree in chemistry from St. Edwards University, Austin, Texas. He began his career with Technology Incorporated, a NASA contractor, and then joined DuPont. After 30 years working in DuPont Agricultural Products, he retired in 2004.

Dennis was a true friend and a connoisseur of life. He was honest to a fault when asked a question or asked to give his opinion. He was an enthusiastic, talented and adventurous amateur chef. He volunteered with Meals from the Masters for several years. He appreciated fine food and wine and enjoyed talking with the chefs at his favorite restaurants. He and Linda had traveled extensively, but the last several years they spent enjoying their homes in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach. Dennis will be missed by Linda, his family, Linda's family and many, many friends.

A private gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
